Commercial Solar Feasibility: What We Need to Price a Project Properly

What site data, roof access, and energy details we need before we can prepare an accurate solar PV proposal for your commercial property.

Why a feasibility assessment matters

A commercial solar PV installation involves structural, electrical, and regulatory considerations that vary between sites. Before we can produce an accurate proposal, we need to understand your property, your energy consumption, and any constraints that affect system design. Skipping this step leads to inaccurate pricing, unexpected costs during installation, or a system that underperforms.

Site information we need from you

The more detail you can provide up front, the faster we can move from enquiry to proposal.

  • Property address and postcode
  • Building type and use (warehouse, office, retail, mixed-use, etc.)
  • Approximate roof area or available ground space
  • Roof orientation and pitch (if known)
  • Roof material and age (felt, metal, tile, membrane, etc.)
  • Any existing solar, plant equipment, or roof-mounted systems
  • Whether the building is listed or in a conservation area

Energy consumption details

Understanding your current electricity usage helps us size the system appropriately and calculate the financial case.

  • Recent electricity bills (ideally 12 months)
  • Annual kWh consumption
  • Whether you have an existing export arrangement or feed-in tariff
  • Day vs. night energy split (if available from your supplier)
  • Plans for increased demand (EV charging, expansion, additional plant)

Access and permissions

We need safe access to the roof and the main electrical intake for our site survey. If the building has shared ownership, managed tenancy, or planning restrictions, let us know early so we can factor these into the programme.

  • Roof access arrangements (internal ladder, external scaffold, cherry picker needed)
  • Landlord or freeholder consent (if applicable)
  • Any upcoming building works that could affect installation timing

What we do with this information

Once we have your site details, our team carries out a desktop feasibility review covering system sizing, structural considerations, grid connection requirements, and indicative financials. If the project is viable, we then arrange a physical site survey to confirm everything before producing a formal proposal.

What happens next

After you provide the details above, we carry out a desktop feasibility review and contact you to discuss the findings. If the project looks viable, we arrange a site survey at a time that works for you. There is no charge for the initial feasibility assessment.
